Three days before and three days after is the main feed   ! Solunar shows darker shades the best this calender will tell you what all animals are doing not just fish.We act freaky at these times LOL.These days sawbellys are more active birds feed on the fish more ect.

the days make sense, but the hours??? i tottally believe that on new moons and full moons fishing is more active, but i always think no matter what solunar day it is the time to be fishing is at dawn and dusk. i find it hard to believe that in the middle of the day on the new moon and fool moon fishing is most active and especially in the summer with the heat and water temperature  i am going to have to call shanningans on that.

Its not an exact science.  The evening is great I agree! But you can get 10 perch midday if you fish the right depth worst day.The new moon is a full  during the day we just don't see it in the day light. That's why they say  the New Moon is the day feeding cycle. Fish do have a deep feed in the summer most just don't know where they are .  Yellow perch like 67 F whites 75F Bass 70F thru 80F ponds they can take 80F + big waters the Bass will not stay in the 80F just feed!Perch are active day feeders I fish for what ever is biting. Some times the perch shut off because they become the bait!Find the big ones and this wont happen ! Ive found Schools of 4 inch perch willing to bite  and schools of 13 inch perch mixed with small LMB just by drifting in contact with the bottom .

The fish will get very active and fatten up before winter .Keep going and you will get some bigguns .Spinnerbaits and Cranks should start working better soon.Pikerel will be getting active for those Spinnerbaits !

Sek,
Welcome to the forums. New Croton is famous for some big bass through the years. I've gotten 4 pounders but, for me, they're rare. The guys who do well learn the walls, bridge abutments (sp?) and structure under the water and work those often, I'm still looking around. :)

My problem is I visit a bunch of different reservoirs so it will take me longer to learn just one. If you work any reservoir consistently it will get better with time.

IMHO,
Vinny

Went fishing Sunday, 5 and it was windy!  Could barely anchor.  Had some nice hits in the am but couldn't hook anything.  Using a plastic lizard which seems to get many strikes but they seem to strike short.  I'm using Texas rig style.  Also tried shiners on bobber as well as just free spooling.  Nothing was hitting despite the huge amount of large fish swimming by (seen using fishfinder).  They all seem to be chasing bait but don't want to touch ours... any advice out there would be greatly appreciated.

I hit new croton this week too, and landed a lunker of a bucket mouth that ties my personal record of 5 and 1/2 lbs.  I finally found the key to getting the big ones...dont bring your camera or phone hahah. Every big bass Ive caught I was without my phone or camera.  My dad was their to vouch and weight it.  Now that I think of it I kind of regret not tieing it up to the boat rowing back to the car to take a pic and then release it.
I thought I had a hit, then i thought i was snagged, then I got him close to the boat I was like wow, then he got spooked from boat and swam away but we got him in boat.  Overall a very lazy fight, Ive had 1 lbers from this lake that fought more, it was like reeling in a log hahah. But it was nice to have some real tension on the line.
So the lake is still warm a bit but it has def cooled off some.  I have a feeling once water temp drops some more it will be real productive in next few weeks until late in season and in early next season compared to other lakes.  Overall summer fishing is tough in any lake so i guess its good to have a warmer lake then a cool one.
Other than that fishing was slow i did not have anything else.  I saw a bunch of fish breach but thats it.  I caught him within first few casts so I was really pumped and excited for a big day.  Well their are fish in that lake and obviously no doubt some big ones.  I probably wouldnt mount one unless it was in double digits then again anything over 6 and 8 is pretty big and rare especially in north east.
Has anyone noticed that the fish in this lake have sharper teeth compared to other bass?

Nice fish Yanks555...!!  I saw a nice bass around that size in the shallows when we were drifting, but haven't nailed any near a size that I would bother measuring.  We fished yesterday, 9-11, at area 21 and had a few nibbles but didn't bring anything in.  Probably got out on the water @ 4pm and fished till 8:00.  Saw some nice fish on the fishfinder... but seems even nightcrawlers wouldn't coax them onto our hooks.  We also fished the edges with plastics as well.  Anyway... maybe this weekend

didn't see that anybody told you. but there are no trout in new croton, unless they come over the am from muskoot. i have a boat there i know. you may get very lucky they use to stock new croton with tiger muskies back in the 80's not too many have been had. they put like 3800 each year for many years. i read it on the DEC site month's ago. i tried to find it again but could not bring it up. that's why i have a boat in cross river for the trout. sat 9/11 i caught a smallie and 8 perch now that the heat wave is over we should catch some real fish now. crossriver is where i got them.
