Have not been able to go fishing for weeks, but Sunday morning was open. No commitments for a change. Went out at about 6.30am, with a dozen shiners. Nothing on the troll out to the deep water. Tied on to the buouy and managed 2 nice 21" and 22" lakers by 8.30am. Then a very tiny SMB. Trolled abck to shore, battling the wind and was off the water by 10am, sunburned and weary. Man it was hot! And the wind did not help at all. Caught the fish on 6lb fluoro at about 50 to 60 depth, while reeling in lip-hooked shiners, reeling slowly. No sinkers. Just the line, the hook and the shiner. Live-lining. Did not see much action in other boats at all. Smoked the fish and the fillets look as lovely as any commercial smoked trout fillet. Perhaps even better looking. Certainly they are better tasting, without "liquid smoke" and goodness-only-knows what else is put on/in the fish.
