Hi guys,
Spent the afternoon from approx 12 pm tp 530 pm at ashokan and had about 6 hits on shiners.I landed 3 of which were 2 bowns and 1 rainbow.They were all abot 21/2 lbls.Lost 1 brown that was quite a bit bigger.Sorry no pics but stopped at my brothers house on the way home and we ate them. :)I talked to quite a few folks up there in boats on the lower basin and they were all doing quite well.One guy had a 71/2 lb brown and another a 5 lb rainbow.Take care and good fishin all.

I would but they were out and the price is now over 11.00 a dozen.The only place I know of is by the hurley mountain inn and a friend had stopped earlier and said they were out at the time.At least shiners are working pretty good right now and plan on trying a little trolling this saturday.Its a little tough using the cannon mini troll by yourself but if I start in deep water over 60 ft its not to bad.Being most of the fish were up in the 15 to 20 foot range might not even have to use it.Good fishin Phish.

Striper, are you considering coming up to Pepacton we are going up (some fellow site members) on July 6th thru the 9th Tues-Fri. I have boats and we can rent a room/house (depending how many are coming). I can show you how we do it on Pepacton, w/o downriggers, plus at that time of year it won't be necessary.Stay tuned ,more details coming soon,Phish.


Also, would like to get out on Ashokan, I have resources for bellies.

I would sure like to do some fishing on pepacton.I used to go up and fish from shore but was more for the getting away then really fishing.I would have no problem either going out together on shokan or letting you use my boat.it is a 12 ft and it is like 15 yds to the water.I would probably be able to come up there for a day but not sure if I could stay longer then that.i will let you know.Thanks for the offer.

Went back to shokan this morning and had my best day in a long time.Using large shiners and fishing over 50 feet dropping bait 15 to 20 feet down Had 3 smallmouths all around 2 to 3 lbs,2 yellow perch about 16 to 17 inches,2 small browns about 13 to 14 inches.3 large browns 19 to 24 inches and lost a nice rainbow(who taught them to jump).That was fishing from 8am to 3pm.Saw another guy lose one of them damn jumpers too so didn't feel so bad.I heard one guy saying they were doing very good in the upper basin also.Good fishin all.

Them 'bows love to jump, only thing u can try is pointing ur rod to the water when they are about to jump to help,Phish.

Thanks for the  advise Phish,I read that somewhere but seems I get so excited when I get one of them on I remember that about 60 seconds after the fish is gone
