Roundout Report
« on: May 06, 2010, 02:38:26 pm »
Spent last 2 mornings and last Friday morning on Roundout. 12 fish total,10 lakers, 7 being shorties,2 browns with the biggest @5&1/2lbs. Pop lost a huge laker, (presumed), never saw him, but he hit 90 feet down.We picked up lakers way down the past 2 days,120 and 130 feet down believe it or not. We also picked them up on flat lines so the situation is this, they are all over the water column. Many fish way down and not to aggressive as were most of the hits. The fish that were up were hitting very aggresively.Did not take water temp.but it is still very cold. All fish were had on sawbellies. Fishing Monksville for lakers tommorrow as the state continues to stock them in the muskie filled waters, going to see if they are alive,Phish.

This just in, Monksvile still sucks,1 hit, and that was all. Tried trolling plugs/spoons and drifting bellies for 4 hours, marked fish but no real takers. Locals told us as was suspected, the toothy creatures feast on the poor stockies as soon as they are dumped in the water, Phish.

Phish,
Curious on how the depth affects the lakers coming up from 120ft? Is there a special way to handle them better?

Looking forward to Pepacton in early July,
Vinny

Early season with the water still cold they do well.sometimes they blow their air bladder. In warmer weather, they come in like dead weight once they come up to the warmer water. Hopefully they survive,I do think they do, we take a few minutes to revive them and they swim back down to the colder water,Phish.
