Pond fishing in North Carolina
« on: March 30, 2010, 05:33:52 pm »
Going to North Carolina next week, reaching out to the bucketmouth guys, what tactics should be tried. It's my understanding there are bass up to 10 lbs in this pond (a farmers), air temp. will be moving into the 80's this week, any suggestions? Thanks, Phish.

I doubt you can ever go wrong with texas rigged plastics whether they are worms or crawfish types. Jigs are probably the most popular choice when trying for big bass since they imitate the crawfish profile. I'm jealous just answering this. LOL
Hopefully some locals will have some info when you get there. My basic tackle box would have the above mentioned items and some crankbaits and spinnerbaits if it's warm and the fish are active.

Let us know how you do,
Vinny

Phish,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              I fished a farmers pond when I was in N.C. a few years back. He rigged up a 6 or 7 inch shiner under a big bobber. Shiner was maybe 4ft below bobber. We had excellent luck bringing in 7 to 9lbs Largemouths. He told me that after the bobber goes under to wait 5 to 8 seconds before setting the hook. Have fun!
