Sea Nymph 12' boat hole
« on: October 31, 2009, 10:40:39 pm »
I just purchased the used Sea Nymph 12k boat and was hoping if someone could shed a light on my question regarding the boat.

At the bottom of the boat (in the back of the middle portion where aluminum is protruding out), there is about 1/16" hole.
I think it's there for a purpose but I'm not sure why.  If anyone owns 12k by Sea Nymph, please let me know you see the same...

I don't think it will cause the leak, but just curious... ???   The boat is in Flemington,NJ for now.  I'll try to take a picture later and post...

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Sung

Hi, Mike,

Yes, I could rivet it and use JB weld to seal it.   But, I think the hole is there for a purpose (maybe as a balancing act of the boat???) and possibly made by manufacturers...  Just want to see if anyone who owns Sea Nymph 12K sees the same thing as I'm seeing...
Thank you.

Sung

Sung,
Just Googled a visual on a 14K and they look like nice boats. There's no logical reason for a 1/16th hole so it either needs a custom Sea Nymph plug or some JB Weld. Maybe something like a transducer cable was run through it by a previous owner?
Best Always,
Vinny

Thank you, Vinny as always...   I'll post the pictures later...

By the way, take a look at the Craigslist.  There is a boat for sale at $325.  It sounds like a great deal assuming boat is in great condition as the seller states..  http://cnj.craigslist.org/for/1446173670.html

Sung,

I have the 12' Sea Nymph and there are holes there where you have them too.  The protruding aluminum bars on the bottom of your boat are just reinforcements to protect your boat from damage when hitting rocks or drugging on the bottom.  The holes in them do not penetrate the hull and most likely are there just to drain water from the cavity between protector and the hull.  So stop worrying, leave them alone and go get some fish!

Good luck and congrats on your new boat – it's a good one!

Same here, I have a Sea Nymph with similar holes. I worried when I discovered them too, but the boat doesn't leak at all. Congrats, you got a great deal.
