Hey Tom,

Welcome to the forum. I don't fly fish, but I love wading streams fishing with light spinning tackle. If you haven't checked out this document its worth a look. http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/fish_marine_pdf/nycfshwestput.pdf It has info on streams in Westchester & Putnam, some of which are artificials only.

I've heard of a few guys who catch trout in the reservoirs early/late in the year using a fly rod - might be worth a shot some time as well...

  Good luck!

Try and get a hold of a book by Jim Capossela " Good fishing close to New York City" as this mentions some streams and possible hatches

Tom,
Welcome to the forums. I made this particular board when a few guys had a lot to offer about streams in the area. Maybe search backwards in this forums and you should get some good info. Steve is one poster who seems to have a lot of fly fishing/stream experience.

I'm more of a rowboat reservoir guy so I haven't hit any streams, yet.

Best Always,
Vinny
