Hey boys, just got back from Lake George. Fished from Thur-Sunday, rough trip sort of.We had cold weather and wore the rain gear every day, but not much wind. Got 21 fish only, as compared to last year where we got 60. Out of the 21, 3 were lakers and 18 were bass of which 14 were large mouths which was a little surprising. It looks like a week or so and the bass action shold take off. Ok, back to the lakers, 2 on Friday up to 5lbs, (note, legal on the lake is 23"). Then Sunday rolls in, nothing in the am sesion. We go back out and at 3:30 pm, then it happened. The mamaluke hits, now I'm with my Dad and he's on the rod. After 10 minutes, he tells me, he's 7 feet from the boat, next second he's 80 feet away after a mind blowing run. He gets him back close and I was standing up and I look down into the water and see him for the first time. I bent over and whispered to my Dad, "he's freaking huge" He said, what? Again, "he's freaking huge", well over 10lbs. He gets him up to the boat, now i see him closer, he's over 15. After a couple of more runs, with my knees literally shaking, the toad is in the net, and in the boat. So, he measured 38 and 1/2 inches long and weighed 19.5 lbs. He was released and still swiming with a very sore lip and ego. I have digital pictures (2) which I will have my wife post as I'm a knuckle head with that kind of stuff. The fish of his life time (40 years of trout hunting). The perfect ending of a slow trip. Just a note have patience younever know when the giant willhit, Da-phish. Look for pictures by Wed or Thur.
