Hi everyone, New to the site...was wonderin' if anyone knows how to access the inlet part of the stream which feed Amawalk Resv... I want to get at the area where the stream feeds right into it, do not see any roads mapped on the aerial photos.  Appreciate the info.

Dae_Ma,
Welcome to the site and forums.

I took a quick shot from Google Earth of my guess for the inlet at Amawalk. I don't fish there yet but it seems like the logical guess. It's the north west corner by Route 118 and Route 202. I can picture the light at that intersection. I'm not sure where you'd park.

As I noted in another thread in this section (http://www.westchesterfishing.com/forum/index.php/topic,284.0.html), the best source of information for access to the Croton Watershed streams would be the booklet published by the Croton Watershed Chapter of Trout Unlimited: http://crotonwatershedtu.org/.

The Amawalk Inlet section of Muscoot River is not so easily accessed, as most of it does not run next to a local road, like many of the local streams do. Access listed in the book is reported to be at the three bridges that cross it (check a map). Route 118 is the road crossing it as it enters the reservoir. It does get stocked in its lower sections in Westchester County, and reservoir trout are reported to move up the inlet later in the season to prepare for spawning. DEP access permit is required, and standard state regs apply to this section.

I have not yet explored this part of the Amawalk system, but hope to soon.
