Lake George Pics - Labor Day Weekend
« on: September 07, 2010, 06:12:51 pm »
Was back up in Lake George over Labor Day Weekend.  Fished Saturday night off the dock of the motel and caught a few small fish. LM Bass, SM Bass, Yellow Perch, and Sunfish. (Pics attached).

Fished Sunday morning (7am - 11am) on a Lake Trout Charter. Caught 6 Lake Trout, 2 were keepers (23" minimum).  1 was 23 1/4" and the other was 25". Pics attached. Kept both and ate them.

Do they still catch any land locked salmon in Lake George? I went once years ago for them and got a couple about the size of the plugs we were trolling. They didn't even pop the lines out of the down riggers. LOL

I guess like 10-15 years ago the LL Salmon fishing was good....I remember as a kid going there on charters and catching them ove 20", but I guess it has really gone down hill....ocassionally you still come across them my guide said..He said the problem is that they are sterile, and when they are stocked the Lake Trout eat most of them.  The fishery up there isnt big enough to hold them late enough in the year and then release them, so when they are released they share the same area of water as the Lake Trout (who eat anything and everything).

Ok thanks, that was the state of affairs when I was there.  My guide said that he and several other guides were trying to get them to stop stocking them all together and start stocking browns instead.  Anyway looks like you had a good trip and Lake George is nice even if it turns into just a boat ride.

I always make sure to talk to many guides before booking anyone so I never have a "boat ride" trip.  I was actually suppose to do a bass charter up there 1 night as well, but the guide was honest and said it was too windy and didnt want to take me on just a "boat ride"

I wasn't implying anything other than Lake George is nice to be on regardless.

I know, Im just saying if you dont do your research you can end up with "Boat Rides" instead of catching fish.
