First Post: Going to Fahnestock tomorrow..

Hey everyone-

Im planning on heading to Fahnestock State Park tomrrow, any advice for the trip?

Also, went to FDR State Park the other day and caught this bass.

canopus lake rents boats, i think they open at 8 for boat rentals.  That lake is filled with turtles.  It is only a max of 15 feet deep.  Ive caught plenty of bass in that lake and pickerel using plastic worms.  It's a great place to fish and relax.

if you dont get a boat try and fish the beach area right between canopus lake and the beach.  I fished that area a few times and caught a bunch of nice sized lmb.  I always put them back right away. Canopus lake gets fished hard but still produces decent bass.  trolling motors are allowed on it also.

Didnt end up making it to Fahenstock last week. Taking a trip tomorrow though, can anyone recommend if i should go to Fahnestock or FDR park, Thanks in advance.

Mohansic opens late 10 am no shore fishing tons of crappies use  troutworms or small tubes grubs .Canopus open 8am and you can shore fish early.If going after 10am anyway Id go for Crappies in Mohansic But thats just me LOL .

Went to FDR. Was fun but the fishing was weak and it was scorching! Caught a few crappies and another gold/whiteish fish that i didnt what it was, any ideas?

I caught what I think was a Bowfin in Mohansic 15 yrs back.It had a yellowspot on its tail I think

Hard to tell without a pic. But I've caught big golden shiners in some
places about a foot long. They would fit the description.
