I dont fish New Croton but out of curiosity where have you been connecting
with good sized yellow perch in terms of depth of water, and how far down?
Live bait? Smal lures?

Thanks

Ken

I would like to know also where they are .The last trip tp NC found nothing in 3 hrs barely a hit on the sonar.I think they might have moved out over deeper water ? Im only able  row to 45 ft but the western section is over 100 ft deep.

i usually go catchin. but today i went fishin and got skunked. luckily a rarety for me.  i had high hopes with such a mildly cold fall, but their inner clock most have told them to go deep. i so rarely use live bait but mid summer and late fall or early spring i think i might switch to it. at leas have one rod with live bait and then cast my other.  but it was nice to get out today. it was nice but the wind picke up on our row back it was a good work out hahah.  i think that was the season for me. time for the annual rotation to video games. i saw a few of you out there. any luck on your end?

That's a largemouth bass with an unusually skinny body.

I dont think is looks weird at all really....a little light in the color range, and skinny...but definitely a typical Largemouth Bass....I notice that depending on the water Im fishing, the Largemouth Bass can really vary in color....I've caught them so light they are almost silver, and others so dark green, they are almost like black.

The dark  Bass are the more natural strain U find them in natural Lakes like Wampus, Mohansic .Most fish in  the Reservoir are  stocked  and seem  lighter in color . I think there are a few more Strains  if you look at Smallies some are very dark they may be  from the Creeks that got flooded when they made the  Reservior, some Green ones, and  typical Bronzie Great lake strain.I guess there are some native Brookies around .Hopefully those Brookies get thrown back !

they stock bass in reservoirs? I thought they were just lighter in color and healthier looking since the reservoir waters are cleaner and have more food for them.

ive caught many bass and other fish over 20 years and this picture does not do it any justice. it was so odd. biz was close in saying it had a skinny body. that was one thing i noticed too it had a fat head in proportion to the rest of it. but also under its chin it jutted out and one side of its face was on a sharp angle. and its had sharp teeth almost. oh well i guess everything comes in different shapes and sizes.
