June 2 Weekend/Kensico
« on: June 01, 2007, 01:35:27 PM »
Looking forward to a killer weekend on the water testing out a new light spinning combo rig from BASS. I'll take your advice and give sawbellies a try--I have never fished with them. In fact, until coming to NY I had not even heard of a sawbelly. I'd like to catch my second large brownie, and my first rainbow. Happy fishing guys.

Good Luck, I look forward to a successful report.

Sawbellies aren't cheap but they seem to be a cut above shiners. My biggest smallmouth bass (4.5lbs) was caught on a sawbelly when my friend and I were targeting trout at Kensico. The same day he had a nice 6lb lake trout.

Best Always,
Vinny

Wade told me that to fish the 'bellies I needed an aerator device or they would die. So, I went out with a dozen fat shiners. Caught a 3.5 pound laker, good for smoking the fillets, but nothing very special. home by 10.30am. A beautiful morning on Kensico! Gotta travel to florida tomorrow until sunday, so no trout fishing a few wekeends. Might hit the water off West Palm Beach on Saturday. Will report when I get back.
