Fished last weekend and this..

Seen lots of people,  but no fish.

I had some action two weeks ago at the bridge, but wasn't able to set the hook properly and it got away. Probably a laker.

Hey Ken, dead as in noone there or as in no action? I was hoping to come up there tomorrow. I live in Queens. I was up there a couple of weeks back when that bait fiasco was going on and we used preserved shiners. I think I got one hit but am not sure. Has anyone been catching anything? Wade at Wades's bait and tcakle told me that we can still get some action with Perch up there. Any comment?

Thanks,

There's fish been caught. I caught a laker Friday night and had a brown break off. I also met a guy who caught a 7lb brown the evening before. He showed me pictures on his camera phone.

Thanks Jimmy. What were you using? This is the first season I am targeting anything other than Panfish.

GTangler;

I mean dead as in the fish aren't in a strong feeding mood yet. At least in the morning hours and daytime.
A few fish are getting caught here and there, but alot of folks aren't doing well on either bait or lures. The weekend of Mar 7/8 was good, I took a 20inch Laker that monday on a spoon. Then we had some really cold weather for days and the weekend of Mar 14/15 was horrible, no fish no rises nothing. This weekend seems to have gotten better as I caught a 17inch Laker on a spoon this morning on the south side of the bridge, but- I was casting 3 hours for this one fish which I released. We're having some good warm temperatures in the afternoons so I'm expecting the fish activity to get better during this week.

I was using kastmasters with white bucktails. Lakers are known to be partial to white. Kastmasters cast much further than krocks which makes them ideal when shore fishing.

Wade from Wades bait and tackle told me that Kensico is good for Perch. Does anyone know good shore spots for perch? When will they be biting? Thanks.....
