I went up to Massachusetts to visit my father this weekend, and I asked
him if he wanted to do anything in particular.
He tells me that he wants to go surfcasting in Jamestown, RI.
Hmmmm....ok. I ask him if he wants to charter a boat on my dime
instead....."NaaaaaaHw. Too expensive!" he says.

Neither of us have fished Jamestown or Naragansett. Both areas are know
for rocky ledges and strong currents. So, I decide to inquire with some of
the local forums. The majority ruled that Korkers (jetty cleats) are a must....so I went out
and got us a couple pair.

We fished Jamestown for a few hours until the wind blew eel grass into the
zone. The combination of the slow fishing and the having our plugs fouled
pushed us off the rock early to try our luck on a sandy beach in Naragansett.
We arrived at the beach and it was packed with surf worshipers. We waited a
couple hours for the orgy to thin before releasing our casts. Not much
brewing until dusk and I landed a small bluefish.

I had been fishing sluggos, pencils, and swimmers. I saw and osprey snag a
porgie and fly off with it. Wow! cool. I took the sluggo off and put the short
pencil back on.
As the sun dropped my father called it quits from fatigue and headed for
the beach. I fished for another half hour and picked up one schoolie
before I went looking for him.
