Hello All. NB here :)
« on: March 16, 2012, 09:54:04 PM »
Hi, everyone.  My name is Charlie from Yonkers and I have very little experience with fishing.  I've been reading lots of postings from this website but little shy to put any posts due to lock of my knowledge and experience about fishing.  Thanks to Vinny, Tom and so many other experts who provided awesome information here.  I put my boat in Kensico (Rye Lake side) and I've been preparing myself to catch at least one lake trout this summer.   ;D  I got the FF and just ordered lead core and new reel (Okuma Convector).  All these information from this website.  Thanks again.  :)

Charlie you'll get more than that at Kensico,  you got prime real-estate.

Thanks.  I got this spot last year.  On the first day of the registration, I went to DEC office at 5:30AM and surprised by so many people who were already there.   :o  I just couldn't fish at all last year but it looks much better this year.  I am going to replace the oar locks and going for the test ride today.  :)  YAY!

Charlie,
Welcome and thanks for the kind words. We have a nice bunch here and definitely some key Kensico trout guys to read. Let us know how things go, the good and the bad. we're used to it. :)

Best Always,
Vinny

Welcome, and read up on jigging the lakers, also on yanking lead. Now's the time. It's all happening earlier this year.

That's cool.  I live right next to Tibbetts Brook Park and woodworth ave is pretty close. :)

Thanks for tips.  I think I read some postings about jigging but I just have so many basic questions like how quick do I need to move rods, what kind of setup do I need at the endo do the rod...  Is there any references do you guys recommend for fishing dummies?   ???

Was out on rye lake yesterday just to test the boat. It was just beautiful to be out and it was pretty cool to see many airplanes landing simce its right next to the airport.

I had to travel twice to replace the oar locks (bolts were so tight so i had to get extractors) but it's now done. I will be ready after the reel and lead core are delivered.  ;DH

Hey Charlie. Welcome and enjoy the stay.

Thanks.  Learning about this website everyday.  It's exciting to see many reports here in this site.  Still waiting for my LC and Reel...   :(
