CFR 1/28/12
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:01:22 PM »
I got out and trolled for 4 hours today.  Ended up landing a nice 19" football and a nice 16" brown.

the 19" was 6 colors down and the 16" was 4 colors down.  Lots of fish marked off the bottom.  Water temp was 36 F.  Wind was great, starting to pick up right before i was getting off.  Both hit crank baits.

Great fish, John!
Looks like a nice reward for braving the elements in midwinter!  If it wasn't for that ice-less weather  this year I wouldn't have fond out how grate the fishing in winter might be!

I've gotten lucky this fall and winter with browns.  Winter fishing is the best!  I'm hoping the bass season will be good in CFR this year.  I didnt land any decent LMB in CFR the entire 2011 season.

Nice fish but one not legal and the other barely legal. A couple of weeks ago someone had a pic on here holding a ten inch brown from Cfr with two hands. I'm sure you released these fish safely, but you should consider not boating them or if youmust, not laying them on the deck. They aren't bass

Thanks reservoirdog, I marked a ton of fish at 60 feet and below.  The browns in CFR have really been active this winter.
