Brookies! jan 7
« on: January 07, 2012, 08:41:01 pm »
i went to the promised land state park, the lower trout lake was frozen, but unsafe, and the stream was empty. what a bummer. my dad and i knew of another stream, but didnt know if it was in season. we drove over to where it went under a bridge, and there was a sign saying it was open all year exept march til opening day so they can stock it. went to the hole under the bridge with no luck, moved down stream to a huge pool, and we hit the honey hole.  i landed 8  brookies, my dad landed 7, we did not get pictures of all of them, but hell yeah we should of.

thanks, that pool was over 6 feet deep and there was a large sand mound that we had to stand on to be able to cast out to the seam. we had 3 double hookups.

Those are really big brookies. What did they end up hitting?

Congratulations Nick--you and your Dad should be stoked. Those are some seriously nice size Brookies. Neat to see them hold over. It def figures that they'd be in the deepest holes. Assume you caught them nymphing?

dead drifting anything. caught a couple dead drifting buggers, some  trout magnet grubs and hares ears. i think they stock it in the fall but the site says they dont. i dont think the worm dunkers are aware  ;)

it was cool becuase my dad saw a dead one and the all of a sudden had one on and we didnt know what it was. they stock big trout in pa idk why.
