fishing for trout on kensico and HUGE largemouth caught

Fishing under route 22 bridge with Nightcrawlers and Rapala. Big hit on nightcrawler and brought in Lunker Bass. My loss, although glad to catch something as results from shore have NOT been good. By the way, 'a very good forum'.

Ray,
Welcome to the boards. Don't be shy we have a great bunch of guys here.

The 4.5 lb smallmouth in my avatar was caught not far from the bridge while trolling for trout. It followed the sawbelly to the boat.

Best Always,
Vinny

Congrats on the Laker.
Were you fishing shiners on the bottom or top?

Shiners fished with NO weights, they had LIVE and had free run. It appears they were running deep though.

Near the bridge you have to keep the shiners on top because otherwise they will dive between the traprock around the bridge and get lost. I think shiners go for the bottom but not sawbellies.

you guys are talking about fishing minnows on yop and on the bottom and im very new to live bait i usually use rubbers or a variety of differnet lures...how to you bait the hook with minnows (sawbellies, shiners) and how do you weight the line??

try using slip bobbers with bobber stops.they will allow you adjust the depth the minnow swims at.keep experimenting with the depth10' increments.good luck
