CFR Brown 12/3/11
« on: December 03, 2011, 04:56:38 pm »
I was able to get out today from 11 to 3 fishing for browns. This brown was caught today on CFR with LC line. It hit a luckycraft crank near the surface, 1 color down.  It was 2.5 pounds and 18". Weather was great out there today, zero wind.  Water temp was 50.

It also had like half a jaw.  Not sure what happened but it looked like a birth defect.  I was able to release it quickly and in good shape.  This fish has been a pig, its stomach was fat!

Congrats John, well done! Great fall colors on that fish.
Since it seems like feeding is not impaired perhaps someone
will catch a 10 lber in a few years with that overbite.

Wow Awesome fish,... Cool you release it..... Maybe he lost his jaw when some one else tried to set the hook, or ripped it off trying to bring it in....

I was buying a Christmas tree today, and thought while driving up to orange County, wow it would be cool to get out today, with no wind,... weather should be great Tomorrow too..

You could see the calm water in the background.  I really enjoy when no wind is present.  Makes fishing really peaceful.

*took off life jacket for pictures*

John I think your Brown is a native Brown, opposed to the one I caught at Cross river is more of the type they stock..maybe that's why they look so different??

Yeah it sure was a tough season for me on CFR.  Hopefully next season will be an improvement.  That was a great looking fish. I was pumped when i saw those colors in the net.

That did cross my mind as well.  I checked the fins and none of them were clipped and all were in good shape.  The fins also did have a white line on one end.  It could of been a native brown for sure.  Its the darkest one Ive seen in person for sure.
