Bill, the bay just before Tioga (Eldon Pond) is a great choice as well. The depth is only about 30' max but I have done very well there in the past with smelt set 15-20' down. Also, the chance for LLS is pretty good there. Few years back fishing with Eric Harper we got two salmon, one was just shy of 6 lbs! Also, if you move into the back of Eldon to the partially submerged hump, there's decent Brookies just off the shore. Good luck tomorrow look forward to hearing your results!

Thanks Mike.  The weather is starting to turn for the good now, but not real cold.  Did you use your snowmobile on 4th lake and Indian last week?  Might be going to the spot on Indian on Sunday.

Bill, yes on 4th no on Indian. We walked out for the spot on IL from the little dead end parking area. There were three sleds that came in from where we all parked last year by the beach so the ice is good for machines. Probably real good for wheelers with such a lack of snow! Look forward to hearing how the RL contest went and how you do on IL!

Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks Mike, we're going to use wheelers today, and tomorrow if we go.  The weather forecast for mid week is for a possible big snow storm.  I'll keep you updated on that and today's tournament.

Thanks Bill! Good luck on the Raquette lake contest! Just got a text from Matt (NY Pike) he's set up by the ice road off of Antlers.  So far only one laker and perch.  Wouldn't mind a bit of snow.  Hard to use my sled on glare ice as I'm not liquid cooled and need the snow to run it effectively.  I'll look for your report from the contest tonight!

Thanks-Mike

Hi Mike, we wound up going on just the other side of the needles. Between seven of us we must have caught 15 lakers, all short.  Jeff's son Joey won first place in the junior division for Salmon with a 19 incher.  I won second place Salmon in the adult division with a 20 incher.  We tried for smelt but did not get any.  Also, jigged for lakers with just a few hits.  The lake was in bad shape, about 12 inches of ice with between3-8 inches of water and a couple of inches of ice on top.  Very wet, but a good day.

Take care

Bill

Congrats on a great day! Typical RL lakers but nice to see the LLS are biting! That's pretty lousy with all that water. Can't Imagine standing in it all day! Good luck tomorrow if you're going to IL. FYI I'm planning to go to Tupper next Saturday (not for the N Challenge) but to go out to the deep water for lakers and salmon if you and the gang are interested. Gonna need machines however.

Take care Bro-MK

Thanks, to early to tell what I'm doing next weekend.  It started snowing pretty hard about 1/2 hour ago.  I'll keep you posted on the weather this week.  See you next weekend.

Had 6 inches of snow last night in Indian Lake.  Raquette, Blue Mt, Long Lake had between 7-12 inches.
