JulesArcher,

Where were you fishing?  I saw 2 other boats when I rowed down to the bridge, was one of them you?  Saw a red boat, and another boat with 2 guys in it anchored at the bridge.

I was over on the Rye side.  Southeast of the island.  I am out of area 12.

8 or 9 weeks? I'd be going nuts! The last time that happened to me, I was hospitalized for over two months in Phelps. My foot wasn't weight bearing for a total of eight months. That didn't matter. I built a sled when I got out that would keep my foot elevated so it wouldn't throb, and then I had my buddy drag me out on the ice and cut a hole for me. And then I would crawl from my car to friends' canoes with a rod in my mouth, and eventually learned how drag some of my rowboats while on crutches. That was almost six years ago. I've learned that any moment something can happen that can put an end to one's fishing and a whole lot more, so I don't let 8 weeks go by without wetting a line.
CJ I just re read your post, very inspiring and I'm happy to see that I'm not alone when it comes to having passion and burning desire to fish..great post..Thanks

Shit happens.  I am going to double check my knots next time ;)

Good to meet you too, sorry to hear about that striper!

I always give a decent tug on the lure to see if the line is giving away.  I've lost to many nice fish because of poor knots!  I didnt have a knot come undone this season as of yet.  I did have a bunch of fish pop off the hook though.

good luck
