21" brown caught on a fly
« on: September 24, 2011, 04:24:16 pm »
I caught this 21" brown on a fly today.  It hit a size 6 halloween streamer on 3x tippet. What a catch and fight.  I barely got it to the net in time, the fly was just about played out by the time i reeled it in.  It was a good 5 minute fight with this beauty.  I landed it and managed to get a picture of it. I released it as  good as new. It was caught lower east branch river.

It didn't jump but did break the surface twice. It made a few good runs. I tried not to let to run to much because it would have hooked up on something in the water.

Thanks biz. I worked really hard to catch this fish. I've been fly fishing the streams a lot when im back in the area. im glad I used a little heavier tackle today. The minute the fish was caught I knew it was big, I figured it was another sucker. When a saw the spots I was like yeaaaah come on!

;D Congrats JohnJav! yep, the fall-run is in. My friend fished a river on the watershed today and texted me to say he got a 18" and a 20".

That is some fish, you need a bigger net. I'm thinking about getting boga grips for my saltwater fishing, looks like you could have used one!

Sweet fish! Probably a spawner out of a reservoir!
Take a kid fishing. If there are no kids around or they don't wanna go, take me!
