I havent been to Kensico in a couple of weeks and going by these reports I guess im not missing much. When will the bite turn back on at Kensico?

Vinny,
Thinking about the walky-talky idea: Maybe we could get some units and you can provide them to interested fishermen (for a fee) and then you could publish a common channel for FISH TALK! An alternative idea is to set up a daily chalkboard on your website where interested fishermen could post that they are fishing a certain reservoir that day and they then could voluntarily list their cell phones. Information would only be listed the day of fishing and then erased.
Tom
PS to Ken: Sorry I did not realize it was you fishing with Vinny. The lack of pulling in big ones threw me off because of your well deserved fishing reputation. LOL

Went out this morning October 1st..new license day..got to the Rye side about 7:30..very windy, North wind blowing at 5 to 10 mph..set-up on a spot with anchor down..picked up about 15 smallies and a couple of biten up sawbellies..In the pic my friend John, he is holding up our best 5 for the day with the biggest 17 1/2 inches..I love this fall feeling in the air..don't miss out

Thanks Anthony....we droved to Amawalk early but found the parking area to be like a mud pit from all the rain..so we didn't want to take a chance of getting stuck..On the Rye side its not muddy, easy to get in and out expect the brigde was closed on rt 120...So heads up, you have to go around on Lake street and Old Lake street...

Erik,

Well done and hat's off to you guys for going out this morning.
I woke up to the sound of rain coming down hard this morning
and decided to stay in.
What depth of water were you fishing and how far down were those
smallies?

Ken,
They were 15ft to 24ft down in about 40ft of water..at one point it was non-stop, funny part of every fishing story is that we lost a huge smallie maybe 19 to 20 inches well over 4lbs that jumped so much..the one that got away..

Thanks very much Erik.
We didn't fish anything less than 60ft yesterday.
Looks like you a blast.

I was out this morning out of area 13. Took a friend out today so we fished shiners in 65 ft of water. We only had one small Laker on the bait, but were able to jig up 5 other Lakers on spoons. 3 were short but one 19 and an other was 22 and one was lost right beside the boat that would have been at least 18. We didn't get wet my friend took two fish home. It turned out better than I thought it would. When I left the house this morning it was raining but the time I got to the lake it was just tapering off. And yes the Lake ST bridge is closed for a month but the detour is easy.

possibly 80 degrees this week, is that good or bad for fishing this weekend?

I think it's all good..these fish feel the winter coming, the only thing is the wind could be a little hard to deal with..hopefully by the weekend it will fade...some of the biggest fish are caught this time of year (bass and panfish) no question about it..get out there..

I think it's going to be good. Often right when there's a big temperature drop
the fish don't immediately cooperate but they do after a couple of days of adjustment.
