Shoulder surgery...
« on: March 28, 2008, 08:44:55 pm »
Well I'm all set to start the season but after April 16th I'll be rehabbing from shoulder surgery. My left shoulder was worked on 5 years ago and is fine but now my right one's in need. I have what's technically called "Frozen shoulder". I started to rear it's ugly head a few months ago. Basically what it is is tissue forms around your shoulder joint (for no known reason) and encapsulates and stiffens everything. Picture it as a cocoon forming in your shoulder.

I'll be out there early and play through the pain but it's a progressive things so I have to get the work done. I was hoping to get a lot of you guys out on some of my boats but it may be May or June. I'll be living vicariously through all the reports after April 16th. Hopefully I catch some big fish from April 5th (with Tom) and April 15th.

Best to All,
Vinny

Vinny,
Sorry you have to go through surgery.  :-[  I look forward to going out on 4/5 with you. We can meet on Lake Street on the Rye Lake side. My boat is in area 13. I usually like to go out at dawn. Is that OK with you? I want to use live bait and troll slowly for Browns.

Tom,
I'm all set to go for the 5th. The pain I have now is subtle but consistent. It won't stop me from some good casts toward those browns. If need-be I could probably row.
We'll be in touch before then to iron out the schedule. I'll start by getting some bait at Wade's.
Best Always,
Vinny

Sorry about your surgery Vinny.

Hey, my son has been asking me for one of these. It looks easy on your shoulder. Maybe you could test it out for us while you're rehabbing :D

Hey Vinny,
Best of luck with the surgery.  I actually have two rocket rods in my garage for use when the grandkids come over.  When your up to it, after the surgery, you are welcome to try it out.

Thanks guys, my luck I'd use that rocket rod and hurt my elbow pumping it to go farther.

I'll be fine soon and when I can I'll get one of you guys to row me out so we can fish some sawbellies.

Best to All,
Vinny

Let me know when you are better, we have some unfinished business to take care of on Cross River...then again we have some unfinished business at Bog Brook too.  I can't wait to row you around again.  I hope you are feeling better and if there is anything you need just let me know.

Thanks again guys, I'm well enough to type with out grabbing the painkillers. Actually I stopped taking them because I'd rather deal with pain then all the dopey side effects of painkillers.

Dom,
I'll be emailing you but I know this Sunday may be off-limits since it's Mothers Day. We can't give the moms in our lives any reason to hide our tackle bags.  ;D

Going out on Bog Brook this Sunday with my nephew and son, Sam. My nephew is 25ish and I'll get him to row some. Rowing is actually a good rehab exercise.

Thanks for all the well wishes. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I'll be full force in another month or so.

Best to All,
Vinny

Joel,
Thanks for asking. My shoulder is better but still hurting. Five years ago my left shoulder took 6 months to rehab and this one is in it's 4th month. The most annoying part is not being able to fish as much as I would like.
I'm still smiling. I just put together a nice drop-shot setup that I'll try soon around the weeds. I am trying to downsize some gear. The swimbait stuff I had visions of throwing is on the back burner, I don't want to throw anything heavy for a while.

Best to All,
Vinny
