well i went to mohansic .Ihit 5 crappies kept 2 10" for the tables threw back 3 9" and a real small one.all on a white roadrunner with a tube body in red and green.picked up a big bass ,bout 3lbs was so happy i threw it back without measuring it and it started raining so i had to use a disposable camera to take pic.also got 2 smaller large mouths and a big sunny and yellow perch.Nice opening day for me ;D

interesting page about how to catch crappies:

http://mike_esq.tripod.com/mikesfishingtips/id14.html

It seems they have remarkably good vision, and love to hide in structure. So I am going to have to get some colorful weedless lures and I have a fishin buddy sonar on order.

I put a jonboat on east side of New Croton this weekend, and hope to find some tasty crappies soon.

So far, I only caught a dumb old 20" largemouth bass in the weeds right next to my launch site, first time out. Can't eat her yet, doggonit, so I didn't weigh her, but threw her right back... hoping maybe she'll still be there in a month.

The DEC's "measure your fish with a ruler" tables say a 20" LMB averages 4#10oz.
