Im heading out this afternoon for some bass fishing... with the storm coming in I'm hoping the fish put the feed bag on... planning on working some flats and weed lines that have been very productive this summer so far... report to follow this evening... I might even take some pics if we get anything sizable... tight lines

Welcome Pegasusfish to this awesome forum. LM Bass are in the shallows 20ft or less, Small mouth are everywhere. Are you fishing via boat or shoreline (land) fishing? look for structure they love to hide in fallen trees or any structure that is in the water.

Welcome to the forums.
Kensico is a little tricky to fish from the shore. The well known starting point for a lot of guys is the area by the Rye Bridge on Route 22. If you can  work your way along some of that shoreline if may be worth a shot. The shore spots on the northern end up by where Route 22 meets Route 120 has some openings but I couldn't tell you any exact locations, I'm a boat guy. I see people fish from the rocks up in that north area.
Just remembered.... there is another shore spot on the south eastern part of Kensico called Loudon's Cove off of Route 120. Not sure of the directions but there's a big fence by the parking on rt120.

Best Always,
Vinny

Hey first post and I just put my boat in West Branch reservoir about 2 weeks ago. I went out on Friday and caught 3 up in the shallows (4-6 ft) with a crankbait about ~1lb ea. I caught another in 10ft about 2lb using another crankbait.

I put my boat in WB because I caught a 4-5lber in June from shore, so i know theyre in there. Anyway heres the pic. Blurry i know cause i was shaking after climbing over the guard rail and down a ledge to get this guy out of the water.

@ johnjav - My guess was like 4-5 lbs, could have been more  :P i dont have a scale.

The best part about this catch was reeling my crankbait all the way to the shore and watching the bass follow it and inhale it as it sat motionless in about 8 inches of water. Couldnt believe it. My saving grace was that it hooked one of the treble hooks onto a piece of driftwood so it couldnt go anywhere. I really wish i had a hatcam to film this battle. I was cut, covered in poison ivy, one foot ended up in the water... it was physical lol

Had another rainy day off yesterday, but hit it anyway with my buddy Joe. Not a lot of bass, but a decent amount mostly on cranks and some on jigs and grubs and one on a topwater.   Wind was manageable and it was a good time nonetheless as We got  a few decent fish.  All fish taken  in 8-15 ft and all released.

Here's some pics:
