Michigan Stinger spoons
« on: July 31, 2011, 09:42:12 pm »
Has anyone used any of theses spoons i picked a few up from dicks sporting goods the other day only used them once so far on glenida and caught a crappie and a bass. I was thinking about setting up a downrigger to use these with i have the downrigger just need to get the wire, ball and the realeases. dicks had a 200ft spool of wire with the clips for i think 20$ and the relases were mabye 6$. I was looking at the Michigan stinger web site and they have a ton of diffrent spoons i would realy like to order some blanks from them but they only have a phone number for dealers. I was just wondering if anyone has used these before and if so what kind I realy want to hook up with some lakers on glenida.

Hi John, I have used Michigan Stingers over the past few years yanking leadcore line on or near the bottom for lakers. Have never tried them off a DR. They are a little heavier than suttons and millers and require a little bit faster troll speed to get the best action out of them. This makes them an ideal spoon trolling for browns and salmon especially on lake Ontario. Locally, as mentioned my two best producing colors for lakers has been Steelhead Candy and Blue Dolphin. They are very good quality spoons with exceptionally bright color patterns. Cool names too like Kevorkian, Oil Slick, Monkey Puke, Rosemary's Baby...!!

Thanks mike Im going to see if i can get those specific spoons. Looks like youve taken a break from Glenida huh? I guess i have too, but im going to deffinatley try this week once i get the DR together and figure out a good way to mount it i think im going to try that and hopefully land some lakers. Ill probly land some poisin ivy too as usal every trip ends up with itching the next day.
