pepacton
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:17:40 am »
I think I am going to go up to pepacton tomorrow and try it out for awhile.I have only been out in the boat once and have never caught a pepacton brown yet.I have a bunch of northern king spoons I bought  at dicks on sale for between 2.99 and 3.99 and they all look like good producers for browns.I don't have a good enough setup to keep sawbellies alive so will have to go with shiners I guess till I get one. Will let you know how I make out. ;D

I know the bite was hot a couple of weeks ago.  No new info to offer.  Did you go?

There is a bait shop below the dam in Downsville.

I fished Pepacton last Monday and netted a 6.9 trout. Went to Al's and got it weighed. It was very exciting. Trout went airborne few times during the 20 minutes that took me to get him. Felt like it was close to a 10 lb but for me that was the biggest trout I have ever hooked.

Chanda congrats on your trout catch. I know you have been trying for them for a while now. I guess the persistence paid off. Where you on the water by yourself? Did he drag your boat everywhere? What where you using lure, Sawbellies?
Lets go Yankee's

I was in Hanley Hollow part of Pepacton and trout took it on a sawbellie 25 ft deep. I have been getting trouts in cannonsville but never that big. I have yet to strike luck in CF.
This trout fouhgt like crazy. I had another line out with a bobber and my boat was turning aroung from pressure, got tangled up with lines. Couple of other anglers watching me from 50-70 yeards out fighting the fish, I felt like I was on a stage. Lucky I did not loose the fish. At the end he got tired and nothing left in him.
BTW: thanks you all.

I thought Phishahn had a little get together on Pepacton last week with some of the people from this forum. If he reads the post he will probably reply on the Pepacton bite. He seems to be the go to guy for Pepacton reports. Where ya at Phish?

I was up there today and trolled the shavertown bridge area for 4 hours trying a bunch of different spoons, depth and trolling speed and had 1 fish on for a minute and lost it.I was the only boat out there all day and had to go to shore once because of rain for about a half hour.I am considering moving the boat to another area because for all the trolling I did really didn't mark very many fish on the finder and most of those were 70 to 80 ft deep.
