Here is my theory on Titicus:

Low oxygen levels (as stated by other forum member) due to a lack of vegetation (also stated by other forum members) has not been able to support the stocking of new younger brown trout.  All the older fish that would be able to sustain with the lower oxygen levels, may have been fished out (as I have heard from others that titicus was fished heavily several years back.)  This could be why there is such an overabundance of bait fish, little to no predation.

Paul you forgot "went over the waterfall " or " they got eaten by LMB" or " it was a really bad batch of Browns"

My point is we don't have enough time on "myself included" Titicus to log constant fishing..
If the DEP does a electro shock gill netting is one of the more substantial info highways..

paul its time to move that boat to another res!  You have suffered enough.  I'm glad i switched off that res even though the few times i was out on it last season i landed some decent size LMB.

I will try Titicus maybe for the last time this weekend, after that I will wait for the call from DEP for Kensico, number 20-something, I am hoping to be called this week or the next.  If God has any Mercy in this world, after three years of this, he will give me a spot on Kensico, I hope.

Titicus has not been stocked with brown trout for atleast two years...dont let the NYCDEP fool you.  If their was poor oxygen levels that killed the stockings sawbellies would be the first to go...food for thought ;)

T-Rout Welcome to the Forum
If you don't mind me asking how do you know that Titicus has not been stocked? Have you caught trout on Titicus in the past? Do you fish it regularly? I am not grilling you I am just really interested because I put my first boat on there this season in April and I would like to catch Trout and I based my purchase on the stockings list and the acres of this body of water. Any other info would be appreciated

T-Rout,
Welcome to the forums. Titicus is one of the few lakes I don't have a boat on and would like to hear anything and everything about it from you and the other guys here who fish it. I understand the bass fishing got bad the last few years because the weeds and vegetation changed. I would love to hear that browns were hitting on a regular basis.
Best Always,
Vinny

How can we findout the truth about this Res. It would be a shame if it dosent hold Trout and if it was just a Bass lake. Is the even SM Bass in there? I have only caught LM Bass and WPerch in there

I think it takes more than one year before one can say Titicus is no longer producing trout. I was on it only for crappie early in the season and have been doing my trout fishing elsewhere. But on an intuitive level, I didn't notice any decline in the water quality from previous years. All the reservoirs go through cycles with water levels being one of several factors that influence them. Titicus has been an incredible trout fishery, both through the ice as well as in open water before they worked on the dam. It took several years to come back, but it was happening. Here's some browns from two seasons ago. I was hitting them regularly that spring and not even near the dam. Last year I was on the road and this year all the reports have sent me elsewhere, but I'm not convinced it's not just going through a cycle. Except maybe for the lakers in Kensico, I think they all do that.
