I don't mind people keeping some bass for the table,  but I rrrreeeaaaalllllyyyy hope that those people would take the young uns and release the cows and bulls.  I have a friend who love sauted SMB but he'll keep the ones just over the limit size and throw the larger ones back...this was until after I told him that all the fertilizer Nitrates that flow into the water from the surrounding lawns collect in the fish and that if he keep feeding his kids those fish...they'll turn autistic and he and his wife will get early onset Dementia. I was quoting Chevy, when i posted "awesome, was it released"  I was assuming that, by asking that question, he didnt know that it is not yet bass season and that all bass "must" be released.  I would hate to see him get on the boat with Lion and get slapped on the wrist first time out.

Dae_Ma, Agreed, must know the regs, if you are on the water.

I believe Vinny has some regulations posted on the home page, double checked this before I went out for browns last week.

yeah honestly i have never gotten a big bass on top water, ive gotten them all deep or in the shallows during the spawn.  Only get dinks on the top water.

I think you want to look for dropoffs, creek channels, and downsize the baits early in the season. Small jerkbaits, hair jigs and 3" soft flukes are my bets this week.

Best to All,
Vinny

I have had good success on 3/8oz chatterbaits and boogee baits, besides those nothing else has worked for me.

Water is way too cold still...It actually dropped in temp to about 46* from 50* and the fish caught are not much of a fight...dead weight is more like it.  Seems that Pumpkin is the color right now.  I caught one SMB on a Striper Stump Jumper in White and Chartruese...no sign of Crawdads. ???
