P*e*a*c*o*c*k Bass
« on: March 07, 2011, 03:41:19 pm »
Anybody ever do any Pearooster Bass fishing in the Miami/South Beach with a guide? I am going down there in late May and looking to hire a guide to catch some pearooster bass.....I have talked to a bunch of guides already, just wondering if anyone has some first hand experience with one?

Thanks in advance.

It may be the second part of the compound word that gets automatically changed. Not great for this thread but overall it works. Luckily we don't have any name calling going on. LOL

Thanks,

Nice. You might run into some snook too if you're fishing canals (unless they're landlocked). My father lives down there and the amount of fish (and gators) in the creek near his house is mind blowing. Florida is fishing heaven, enjoy it.

yea, most likely the fishing will be done in canals near the Miami Airport he said. I asked what other fish we might catch he said possibly largemouth bass, snook, Oscars?, etc....but most likely just pe*a*c*o*ck bass while fishing with live shiners.

I have caught them in Miami and Hawaii.  I looked into a guide but my trips to FL are usually in the winter and that isn't the best time to fish for them.  Rather than spend 200+ on a guide for a few fish, I scouted them in the local canals.  I caught a few right next to a major road and next to a McDonalds.

Nice pics....seems like they can really vary in color from fish to fish.

Pearoosters usually don't go after soft plastics so I threw jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and cranks at them.  They ignored them so I had to run down to the local bait shop to get a dozen shiners.  I believe in Hawaii we also had to use live bait.
