Ken,
I have  2 of the  TRAPPER model with the escape stopper...this is a must if you're gonna leave it overnight.  The first time I used the cheap 20 dollar setup and got 30 or more crayfish...that was after leaving for about 5-6 hours, tossed from shore about 50-60 ft out and 4-5 feet of water.  The couple other times I left them overnight and found all the bait gone and 2-3 small crawdads,  I was baffled  :-[.  I called Arne and he told me that they crawled out  :o.  So, I bought one of his and I've been finding a lot more...enough sometimes to feast on with friends and beer.  Key thing are the rocks and water temp...rockier and warmer the better.  I've caught them all the way into late Sept.   I just can t see using them as bait...Boiled Cajun Craw   ;)
