There comments pertain to Lake George. It is a good summer vacation location and offers very good winter fishing. It is located a few hours north of NYC. See folowing for details. :)

were you fishing in a river, lake or ocean?
Hi, Nick. The answer is lake. One of those deep mountain lakes with streams flowing in and out.

Thanks to everybody who helped me find more info on fishing Lake George. It`s really a great fishing destination worth visiting. I`m back from a trip up there. It was mostly family fun, not much fishing. No ice at all. We cast spoons and other lures from shore, no bait fishing. Actually, had no luck. Maybe, next time.. ;D

I was up in that neighborhood last week. I took a trip up to Paradox Lake and caught lakers on the bottom. Nothing big but it was a beautiful day. The only problem was it was a hell of a long trek to get to the West basin were the trout are from the public access which is on the East basin. Next time I'll go for the northerns and crappie in the east basin. I also want to hit Brant and Schroon. It's pretty country. But so are our reservoirs here. I got a mess of panfish today.
